Abstract

In the opinion of Sandstead and Murphy et al foods of animal origin are the major dietary sources of zinc. This may hold with respect to developed countries, since these foods are generally rich in zinc and represent a very significant proportion of the dietary calories in these regions.

Abstract

The recent discovery of the human zinc deficiency syndrome in the Middle East and the subsequent recommendation of the dietary allowance of zinc, have raised the mineral to a new plane of nutritional significance in man. As a result, interest in the zinc content of food articles and whole diets has been renewed in many countries.
